Oral history interview with Melville Oseran, June 6, 1993.

Oseran describes his early years, his secular and religious education, and his military service in World War II. He speaks of the various law firms and partnerships he joined or formed during his career, including a lengthy association with Harold Heath and the Heath Tecna Corporation. He explains why, at different times, he was secretary of Bikur Cholim and also president of Temple de Hirsch. He lists his numerous volunteer activities in national, civic, religious, and secular Jewish organizations. Oseran tells of his work as chair of the Anti-Defamation League and his efforts to end discrimination in the Laurelhurst and Sand Point neighborhoods. He discusses his personal experience in breaking the Rainier Club's barrier to Jewish membership.

Lawyer and Seattle Jewish community leader. Born in 1918 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Oseran moved with his family to Seattle in 1919. He received his law degree at the University of Washington and became a practicing attorney.
